2112 in my blog title

This is paulblog2112 so I guess I should mention that I like Rush. I like Rush...

Going back to get to now...

So the last couple of months have been rather eventful. It starts back in August when my girlfriend and I bought our new house in Woodinville, WA. A nice place and a good upgrade from the place we used to live which was a townhouse in Bothell, WA. Our new house sits on 1.2 acres of land that is mostly wooded and we are at the end of a gravel road so its really nice and quiet out here. Back in October, we had a wind storm and a big Douglass Fir tree fell on Claudia's car and smashed it (pics coming I promise). In November I quit my job to take a new position at a new company (an interesting side story that one...). Now it's December and we have had our first snow. Followed quickly by a tropical storm that flooded our area and our new house got about a foot of water in the basement. Whats worse is, my basement is finished and we had stored a lot of personal items down there that we have not had the time to move into permanent places yet. It came in the middle of the night and when I went downstairs to the laundry room to get some clothes to wear to work I heard the splashes under my feet. My first thought was that the cat had done some business out of her box. That was not the case entirely. My house was full of water, and, it was still coming. I freaked out for a few minutes not really knowing what to do, then, I cooled down and started a plan to get the water out of there. In the end, the water is gone and the water damage is all that remains. An expensive repair that my home owners insurance is not going to help me pay for (another side story I assure you...). So we come to today. The downstairs is still drying. But, it seems like we are getting closer and closer to "normal" every day.
